    Braemar Blasters Weekly Updates (6/1 - 6/7)

Happy Monday Blasters! This coming Saturday, June 6 we have our first dual meet, home v. Brookside Hurricanes. Today is the deadline to declare for the meet. If you are unsure how to declare, please check out this instruction guideline. As a reminder, you can declare your swimmers from both our website and the SwimTopia app. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend downloading the SwimTopia app. It’s the easiest way to stay in the loop with real-time Team Alerts (including weather delays), meet sign-ups, volunteer schedules, swim results, and so much more!

Please note, we will NOT ADD swimmers to events after the declaration deadline tonight. Attached is a list of those who have declined or are undeclared. PLEASE CHECK THIS LIST, EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE YOU DECLARED, DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT ON THE LIST. If you appear on either list but plan to swim this weekend, please edit your swimmer(s) commitment by 11:59 pm tonight! If you sign-up and find out any time prior to the start of the meet that you cannot make it, we will send out a scratch form on Friday. Additionally, if you would like to suggest an event your child should swim, please include that in the notes while declaring. These are just suggestions, but the coaches will pay attention to them.

    We need you!

    1. Each home meet we welcome a swimmer (or multiple swimmers) to perform the star spangled banner. If you would like to perform, please email [email protected].
    2. We need to organize the ribbons for our first meet and would love swimmer volunteers to help. If you are able to help, please email [email protected]. Organizing will happen during practice times, but we ask that all swimmers be dry before helping.

Here are a few additional reminders:

    1. Don’t forget, volunteering for Blaster families is MANDATORY. Our swim meets cannot run without volunteers, so please make sure you are completing your selected roles and communicating with your committee head. If you have missed shifts, you will be called upon to make those up by doing double shifts or filling in as necessary.
    2. Do not forget to bring your pool passes—resident and non-resident—to practices. If you have not yet picked up your pool pass, make sure to visit the Braemar HOA office ASAP to do so.
    3. Merchandise will be given out this week--Wednesday thru Friday during practices. Families with only MicroBlasters, your merchandise will be available during the first Micro practices in two weeks. Please note we will be distributing all the team shirts, caps, and most of the team swimsuits, but a few suits are delayed and may not be available yet. Thank you to our merchandise team!!

Events this week: As a reminder, unless specifically stated, all events are for both Micros and Blasters.

    1. Monday, June 1: This week we have our first spirit night TONIGHT at CHIPOTLE in Bristow from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Use the code P9BG3M7 when ordering online or show the attached flyer in the restaurant. Make sure you let them know that you are there for spirit night–and pass it along to your friends too!
    2. We have a few coaches’ birthdays this week and last. Coach Sam had a birthday last week, tonight is Coach Lauren’s birthday and tomorrow is Coach Chris’ birthday. Happy birthday coaches!!
    3. Congrats to all our graduating seniors: Kelly Garcia, Grant Golembiewski, Kherrington Latona, Gavin Scala, Noah Smith, Emily Turulski, and Isabella VanWaesberghe! We are looking forward to celebrating with you later in the season.

Anticipated Timeline for Swim meet 6/6:

Clean-up We have three home meets this season and have organized post-meet clean-up by last name. For this weekend’s meet, families with last names A–I are asked to stay after the meet and help with clean-up. The more hands we have, the faster we can get the pool deck ready to reopen for the community—thank you in advance for your support!

    Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to run this meet, and you should be hearing from your committee heads soon on your specific roles. Please pay close attention to the emails/communications forthcoming. If you CANNOT make it to the meet, please let your committee head know ASAP. As a reminder, the following committees can sign-up on the website/app when declaring their swimmers: computers, clerk of course, timers, ribbons, runners, and stroke & turn. A guide on how to sign-up for job shifts is available on our website.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have questions in the meantime.

Looking forward to seeing you all on deck!
