    BBST weekly updates: 7/14 - 7/20

Happy Monday Blasters! Congrats to Isabella Van Waesberghe on breaking the 15-18 girls 50 backstroke record this weekend!! This coming Saturday, July 19 we have our last dual meet of the season at home against the Westridge Waves. Today is the deadline to declare for the meet. If you are unsure how to declare, please check out this instruction guideline

As a reminder, in order to qualify for the Divisional meet on Saturday, July 26, each swimmer must participate in at least TWO meets and have ONE legal time in the event. The following swimmers still need to participate in ONE more meet to make that requirement–and this would be the last opportunity: Annabelle Armstrong, Eden Davis, Ry Eppley, Bradley Fisher, Ella Gillingham, Grant Golembiewski, Noah Hood, Kasey Jones, Ellie Lopez, and Landon Nichol. If you plan to participate in the Divisional meet, make sure you are declared to attend this weekend’s meet!

Please note, we will NOT ADD swimmers to events after the declaration deadline tonight. Attached is a list of those who have declined or are undeclared. PLEASE CHECK THIS LIST, EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE YOU DECLARED, DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT ON THE LIST. If you appear on either list but plan to swim this weekend, please edit your swimmer(s) commitment on the website by 11:59 pm tonight! Very important, we had an unprecedented amount of no shows this past weekend. If you plan to be out of town this weekend and know you can not make the meet, please make sure to DECLINE the meet. We understand that illnesses and last minute changes happen, but we are trying to avoid all other scratches. Additionally, if you would like to suggest an event your child should swim, please include that in the notes while declaring. These are just suggestions, but the coaches will pay attention to them.

Events this week: As a reminder, unless specifically stated, all events are for both Micros and Blasters.

    1. Wednesday, July 16: 8& under age group bowling from 2 - 4 pm at Bowlero. All 8 & under swimmer coaches are encouraged to attend as well. Please sign-up ahead of time if you plan to attend.
    2. Friday, July 18: Our last pep rally of the season at Iona Sound pavilion. More information will be sent later in the week.
    3. Saturday, July 19: Another community twilight swim!!

Here are a few additional reminders:

    1. Senior splashes will be this weekend! For those new to the team, it’s a wonderful time where we get to recognize our graduating seniors. Swimmers stand on the lily pads during the senior’s last swim and cheer them on. If your swimmer would like, they can make a sign to hold up. All are welcome to participate–well as many as we can safely fit on the lily pads.
    2. PWSL top 25 times for individual events and top 15 relays are listed on the PWSL website, along with the meet results for all the meets this past weekend. Congrats to Jacob Maas, Dylan Sieloff, Ethan Hook, Zach Lupariello, Isabella Van Waesberghe, and Christina Korkos for making the top 5 this week! We also had 4 relays (8&under mixed medley relay, 9-10 boys medley relay, 15-18 girls medley relay, and 15-18 girls free relay) make the top 5 this week. Way to go Blasters!
    3. Ribbons will be available each week starting on Tuesday at Iona Sound pool only.
    4. Don’t forget, volunteering for Blaster families is MANDATORY. Our swim meets cannot run without volunteers, so please make sure you are completing your selected roles and communicating with your committee head. If you have missed shifts, you will be called upon to make those up by doing double shifts or filling in as necessary.
    5. Do not forget to bring your pool passes—resident and non-resident—to practices.
