    Braemar Blasters weekly updates (6/2-6/8)

Happy Monday Blasters! This coming Saturday, June 7 we have our first dual meet, away at the Piedmont Tsunamis pool. Today is the deadline to declare for the meet. If you are unsure how to declare, please check out this instruction guideline. This year you can declare your swimmers from both our website and the swimtopia app. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend downloading the SwimTopia app. It’s the easiest way to stay in the loop with real-time Team Alerts (including weather delays), meet sign-ups, volunteer schedules, swim results, and so much more—all at your fingertips!

Please note, we will NOT ADD swimmers to events after the declaration deadline tonight. Attached is a list of those who have declined or are undeclared. PLEASE CHECK THIS LIST, EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE YOU DECLARED, DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT ON THE LIST. If you appear on either list but plan to swim this weekend, please edit your swimmer(s) commitment on the website by 11:59 pm tonight! If you sign-up and find out any time prior to the start of the meet that you cannot make it, we will have a google form to scratch (sent out on Friday). Additionally, if you would like to suggest an event your child should swim, please include that in the notes while declaring. These are just suggestions, but the coaches will pay attention to them.

Here are a few additional reminders:

    1. Don’t forget, volunteering for Blaster families is MANDATORY. Our swim meets cannot run without volunteers, so please make sure you are completing your selected roles and communicating with your committee head. If you have missed shifts, you will be called upon to make those up by doing double shifts or filling in as necessary.
    2. Do not forget to bring your pool passes—resident and non-resident—to practices.
    3. Merchandise will be given out this week--Wednesday thru Friday during practices.  Please note we will make sure to get all swimsuits and caps this week, but the team shirts and other merchandise may not be available until next week.  Thank you to our merchandise team!!

Events this week: As a reminder, unless specifically stated, all events are for both Micros and Blasters.

    1. Monday, June 2: This week we have our first spirit night TONIGHT at PANERA in Bristow from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Use the code FUND4U when ordering. Make sure you let them know that you are there for spirit night–and pass it along to your friends too!
    2. We have a few coaches’ birthdays this week–yesterday was Coach Lauren’s birthday and today is Coach Chris’ birthday. Make sure to say Happy Birthday when you see them!
    3. Congrats to all our graduating seniors: Sophia Bowman, Jesse Cloonan, Evan Jerde, Michael Kislowski, and Christina Korkos! We are looking forward to celebrating you later in the season.

Volunteers are needed to run this meet and you should be hearing from your committee heads soon on your specific roles. Please pay close attention to the emails/communications forthcoming. A guide on how to sign-up for job shifts is available on our website.
